By now you should have your Twitter account all setup. The whole idea is to build a list of followers who will appreciate your comments/tweets and enjoy following you. The reason they will do this is because you’ll be making value driven “tweets” they enjoy reading. Your followers will start clicking links that you post in your tweets, and in turn generate traffic back to your websites. This is easy and fun traffic to get! You should be focused on posting content that provides people with value. Let people see you as a great resource for information, brand yourself. The more people following means the more people reading what you have to say and in turn the more chance people will click the tweeted links.

So here it goes: More followers = more traffic

OK, so how do you get more followers?

  1. Engage in conversations with people who already have a large number of followers. Use the @ sign and put the persons username after it so they can see you’re talking to them (e.g. in your tweet you could write: “@dogmorf, can’t wait for #FollowFriday”. I’ll see that message when I login to Twitter, and then I might reply like this: “Hey @XYZ me too” Now, here is what happens. When I reply to you with your name in my tweet, everyone who is following me will see your name. Some will click it and in turn follow you… This is referred to as leveraged credibility. When people see me (or whoever you send your tweet at) talking to you, they want to know who “you” are. Try and strike up conversations with people of similar interests who have 1,000 plus followers.
  2. Find other people in your industry and follow them. Chances are they will in turn follow you back… These are all target market people who you should be looking to associate yourself and brand yourself against. It’s all about making a name for yourself.
  3. Add your twitter URL at your Facebook page or any other websites you own as well as to the bottom of your signatures in your emails.
